Alex Lleo announces Birmingham show

Alex Lleo

There’s a mellowness & warmth to Alex Lleo’s debut recordings that feels both timeless and fresh. Recorded live with his six-piece band at Park Studios in Birmingham, his debut EP is a masterclass in soulful, addictive songwriting.

‘Bedroom Door’ is the first track to be released from the EP. Constructed around two distinctive melodies, brass & string arrangements intertwine to build a song that’s infectious and impressive. More so that it was recorded live in one take, with Alex intent on capturing the spontaneity of first time performance. You can sense the kinetic energy in the room from ‘Bedroom Door’s accompanying video.

“I wanted something to document that we could do it without any fancy trimmings,” Alex says, keen to capture the moment, rather than glossy, managed perfection during the recording. “I was determined to get the mistakes,” he says. “To be live in a room together creates moments in time that you just can’t replicate. It was that ‘spur of the moment’ thing I really wanted to showcase to people”

Spending time in nature – in Worcestershire’s Lickey Hills where Alex lives and grew up, the awe- inspiring Scandinavian mountains, and surfing the various coastlines of the British Isles – has shaped Alex’s creative outlook. You can hear his attraction to the natural world, its peace and its drama, in his music, which is exquisitely paced, laid-back and rich in melody.

On the live-front, Alex and his six-piece band will make their London debut with a headline show at St Pancras Old Church on the 2nd May. Promoted by Communion Presents (Ben Howard, George Ezra, Daughter) tickets are on-sale now from SEE.

Alex will travel to the South West this spring to surf the cold British waters and play a series of solo headline shows around Cornwall throughout May. Full listings to be announced shortly.
