Edinburgh-based alternative hip-hop band Stanley Odd return with their third studio album A Thing Brand New, released on A Modern Way Recordings. From social commentary to stories of a more personal nature, A Thing Brand New is a collection of songs – the music reflecting the words and words set to the music.

This album is Stanley Odd at their most organic, evolved and comfortable in the awkwardness of their own skins. The record follows up from the band’s second album Reject, which was shortlisted for a 2012 Scottish Album of the Year.

Since then, Stanley Odd have continued to tour heavily, taking in some their biggest shows to date including a string of US dates with The View and numerous festival slots including Wickerman, Belladrum, Insider, Greenbelt and Celtic Connections.

The band have also gained the support of high profile media outlets including BBC Radio 1, XFM, BBC Radio 5 Live, BBC Radio Scotland, Amazing Radio and publications such as The Guardian, The Skinny, The Herald, The List, 405, Clash and many others

Plus opening support from BEAR

Bear are Wolverhampton vocalist Faye Smith, accompanied by French multi-instrumentalist Gordon Begard. Together they create a sound that is soulful, powerful and wise. An exciting blend of acoustic, hip hop, and soul, Bear combine fresh original compositions with surprising takes on some their most cherished influences, making these songs undeniably their own. Begard provides a perfectly gaged backdrop of guitar and beats for Smith’s unique voice, which belongs amongst the likes of Selah Sue, Adele, Janis Joplin, Florence Welch, and at times Lauren Hill.
